Capital Campaign
Two & Company, encompassing the Café, Shops, Job Services, and the Foundation, outgrew the space we’ve been leasing since 2015. We purchased a building for 1.6 million dollars with 6,800 square feet doubling our space. The costs for the historic building and renovations were originally estimated to be 4 million dollars. We ran into many unexpected structural issues increasing the project budget to 5.5 million dollars.
In December 2023 we started demo work. Extensive site work including land grading, running underground electricity and water, and retaining walls took nearly 3 months to complete. In May 2024, the back wall and classroom masonry walls were rebuilt, and the front wall was rebuilt in June. There were sections on the sidewalls that lacked any foundation support and had to be shored up. The blocks selected look historic to the original walls. The entire roof was ripped off and the damaged boards were replaced before installing the new roof. New concrete floors were poured in, and new windows were installed in late June. Finishing work was completed in October.
Throughout the past 2 years, our community has stepped up and we are grateful beyond words to have raised 4.8 million from over 400 donors in cash and pledges, including funding from the State of Ohio. We had to take out a construction loan to complete the renovations on time. Your support has been instrumental in Two Foundation’s journey thus far. We have the challenge of raising the remaining funds for the capital campaign while meeting the increased operating needs as we hired additional teachers, drivers, and kitchen, café, and shop staff to be ready for our fall opening.
