Capital Campaign
Thank you to our 410 founding flagship donors for bringing our vision to reality!
Two & Company, which encompasses the café, shops, job services, and the foundation, has outgrown the space we’ve been leasing since 2015. We purchased a building for 1.6 million dollars with 6,800 square feet that will have space for training, café, shops, and business offices. The costs for the historic building and renovations were originally estimated to be 4 million dollars. We ran into many unexpected structural costs as well as cost increases.
In December 2023 we started demo work. Extensive site work including land grading, running underground electricity and water, and retaining walls took nearly 3 months to complete. In May 2024, the back wall and classroom masonry walls were rebuilt, and the front wall was rebuilt in June. There were sections on the side walls that lacked any foundation support that had to be shored up. The blocks selected look historic to the original walls. The entire roof was ripped off and the damaged boards were replaced before installing the new roof. New concrete floors were poured in and new windows were installed in late June.
Throughout the past 18 months, our community has stepped up and we are grateful beyond words to have raised 3 million from 410 donors in cash and pledges. We thank every one of you! We can now share the exciting news that the State of Ohio has approved additional funding through the Strategic Community Investment Fund and the Capital Budget. We will have raised 5 million dollars when we receive all the pledges! This is a cause for celebration!
The project costs are now estimated to be 5.3 million dollars and renovations will be completed at the end of September. Your support has been instrumental in Two Foundation’s journey thus far. We have shifted our focus from raising dollars for the capital campaign to the increased need for operating dollars as we ramp up our new space. We will hire additional teachers, drivers, and kitchen staff to be ready for our fall opening.
